Head Modelling ~ Daenerys

For this second exercise, we have been tasked with modelling a head using Zbrush. For my model, I’ve decided to do a likeness sculpt of Daenerys Targaryen. I started with a 128 Z Sphere and pulled out my design. Here are a few progress images which I will continue to update as I progress.

A lot of my progress can be viewed on my Twitch channel as I streamed a 3-hour session while I was modelling. The video will be held there for 30 days, if you’re interested please visit: https://www.twitch.tv/justdigitalme

128 resolution Dynamesh, using mostly the move tool to push and pull and then the smooth tool. I try to overpull areas and then smooth them down. I also use the dam standard brush at this stage for any harder lines such as around the mouth, and to press into the nose. I use the masking tool to edit only certain areas, and sometimes the transpose tools to resize certain areas if I got some sizing wrong in my blockout:

200 Resolution Dynamesh, I’m still using mostly the move tool and the smooth tool at this stage, but I’ve also added in the use of the standard brush and the polish brush. I added in hair and eyes as new subtools so that they would not interact with the rest of the model. I added the eyes first and then pulled out some eyelids from behind using the dam standard brush, I then used the polish brush to make the eyelid sharp:

300 resolution in Dynamesh, adding in more details using the same tools. I did the hair strands by pulling with the move brush and then dynameshing the model. I’m using more of my reference images now to try and make sure my details are correct:

Zremeshed and then edited. I’ve lost a lot of my facial details now at this stage, but once I start working at a higher sub-div level again I will get some of this detail back and it will be structured better:

Adding clothes and greater detailing:

For reference for my model I used the following images and gifs all of which were accessed on 05/10/2020, the links are embedded within the images:
